Crafts Museum
The second library I visited in New Delhi was the National Handicrafts and Handlooms Museum Reference Library. Since NHHM puts special emphasis on crafts related topics, I was expecting a to find something much more meaningful here. The librarian — Mr. Rajender Singh seemed quite interested in my research topic and attempted his best to provide as much help as possible to facilitate my search for books.
Although after spending a few hours going through the collection at NHHM, I realized that I was getting similar results as National Gallery of Modern Arts (NGMA). The books I found here had information about the symbols and their significance in Indian culture. During our conversation, Mr. Singh mentioned that he had not come across a book that could provide more information about the inception of the truck art of India.
Time was of essence, so without much luck at the two libraries in New Delhi, I realized that I would have to try finding answers during my field trips to various workshops and in the interviews with the people already associated with the trucking industry of India.
